Travel & Venue / Getting there
Travelling to NYU Brooklyn
Downtown Brooklyn is served by several subway lines and three major airports. The 2017 guide favored transit over driving, with a short walk from the station to the venue.
- Nearest station
- Jay St MetroTech
- Lines
- A, C, F, R
- Airports
- JFK, LaGuardia, Newark
- 2017 fare
- 2.75 dollars per ride
By subway
Jay St MetroTech is the closest station to the venue, about one block away. The A, C, F, and R lines stop there. Borough Hall is roughly seven minutes on foot and serves the 2, 3, 4, and 5 lines. DeKalb Av is about four minutes away and serves the B, Q, and R lines.
The 2017 guide listed the subway fare at 2.75 dollars per ride and a seven day unlimited pass at 32 dollars. Treat those figures as historical; use the MTA external site, opens in a new tab for current fares and service changes.
By taxi or ride share
Taxis are available in Brooklyn, including the green cabs that can pick up passengers outside the Manhattan core. Flatbush Ave, a short walk from the venue, was a useful place to find a taxi heading back toward Manhattan.
Renting a car is not recommended. Parking near MetroTech is difficult, and the subway is the simpler way to move between the venue and most of the city.
By air
Three major airports serve New York: John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia, and Newark Liberty. All have public transport links, but the best option depends on where you land and how much luggage you are carrying.
From JFK, the 2017 guide recommended the A train as the fastest and cheapest route toward Downtown Brooklyn. From Newark or LaGuardia, it recommended a taxi or a shared ride; taxis were described as more plentiful and slightly more expensive.
