01 / Arrival
Find the side entrance.
MetroTech is a cluster of education and office buildings around a public commons. For CIG 2017, the route into the conference was through the NYU side entrance at 2 MetroTech Center, not the main building lobby.
-
Use the NYU side entrance
Approach 2 MetroTech Center and look for the NYU entrance at the side of the building.
-
Check in with security
Tell the person at the desk that you are attending CIG 2017. They may check your name against the conference list.
-
Take the lift to eight
Past security, use the elevator bank and go to the eighth floor. The registration desk was directly ahead.
Building access rules may have changed since 2017. This page records the arrival instructions published for the conference.
02 / Around the venue
Downtown Brooklyn, without a car.
The 2017 travel guide recommended transit and walking over driving.
Subway
Jay St MetroTech
The closest station is about one block away and serves the A, C, F, and R lines.
On foot
Borough Hall and DeKalb Av
Borough Hall is roughly seven minutes away on foot; DeKalb Av is about four minutes away.
By taxi
Flatbush Ave
Taxis were easy to find on Flatbush Ave, a short walk from the building. Driving and parking were not recommended.
Plan the last block
MetroTech sits between several subway stations and a busy set of streets. The useful map is not the city map; it is the last block between the station and the side entrance.
If you are coming from Manhattan, allow time for the walk and for security. If you are arriving by taxi, ask for 2 MetroTech Center and use the NYU entrance rather than the main lobby.
